چکیده
Context It has been indicated that there might be an antagonism between selection for gastrointestinal nematode resistance and high productivity feed conversion efficiency in ruminants. Aims This study aimed to determine whether genetic nematodes would alter the intake of sheep with or without infection Haemonchus contortus. Methods Sixty-seven Corriedale lambs (357 ± 14 days old) derived from flocks genetically selected resistant (n= 29) susceptible (n = 38) (GIN) were evaluated individual dry-matter (DMI), ratio (FCR) residual (RFI). Considering bodyweight (BW), GIN line sires, males allotted one three outdoor pens females two, each pen being equipped five automated feeding systems two automatic weighing platforms record BW. Feed (lucerne haylage, crude protein 20.5%, metabolisable energy 9.2 MJ/kg DM) water offered ad libitum. The experiment was conducted periods. First, animals maintained worm-free (14 acclimatisation 44 records) then, Period 2 (42 days), artificially infected 6000 L3 Worm egg counts recorded on Days 9, 23, 27, 30, 42 post-infection. While DMI, FCR, average daily gain BW analysed using a generalised linear model including dams age, as fixed effects, RFI only line. Key results In both periods, did not have significant (P > 0.05) effect RFI, count different < Day 23 post-infection (Period 2), higher Conclusions most important finding this is breeding GIN-resistant negative when FCR 1-year old fed libitum high-protein diet. Implications Breeding internal does affect productivity.

Use of Microsatellite Polymorphisms in Ovar-DRB1 Gene for Identifying Genetic Resistance in Fat-Tailed Ghezel Sheep to Gastrointestinal Nematodes
This study was designed to identify genetically resistant animals to gastrointestinal nematode (GIN) infections using microsatellite polymorphisms of Ovar-DRB1 gene in Iranian Ghezel sheep breed lambs. In the present study 120 male Ghezel lambs were at 4 to 6 months of age randomly selected from six different sheep flocks in East Azerbaijan province (n=20 per flock). These lambs were naturally ...
متن کاملAnthelmintic resistance in sheep gastrointestinal nematodes in Slovakia detected by in-vitro methods
BACKGROUND The intensive use of anthelmintics for the control of helminthic infections has resulted in the development of anthelmintic resistance, which has become a major practical problem in many countries. A variety of tests are available to monitor anthelmintic resistance but most of them are expensive, laborious and time consuming and therefore unpractical for large field surveys. The main...
متن کاملFirst Report of Anthelmintic Resistance in Gastrointestinal Nematodes of Sheep from Costa Rica
As the prevalence and severity of anthelmintic resistance continue to rise, nematode infections in sheep correspondingly reduce the profitability of the sheep industry. In Costa Rica, sheep production systems are increasing in both number and importance. A field trial study was carried out to detect the level of anthelmintic resistance to albendazole and ivermectin in gastrointestinal nematodes...

Theexperiment was conducted to investigate the growth performance and feed conversion efficiency of crossbred heifer at different age level in Government Dairy Farm in Bogra, Bangladesh. Twelve female crossbred heifers were equally distributed (n=3) into four groups [Group A: (7±2 months), B: (12±2 months), C: (15±2 months) and D: (20±2 months)] according to age and fed concentrate mix, rice st...
متن کاملEffects of feed intake and genetics on tissue nitrogen-15 enrichment and feed conversion efficiency in sheep.
This study investigated the effects of sheep genetics and feed intake on nitrogen isotopic fractionation (ΔN) and feed conversion efficiency (FCE; live weight gain/DMI), using a 2 × 2 factorial design, with 2 levels of genetic merit for growth (high vs. low) and 2 levels of feed intake (110 vs. 170% of ME for maintenance [MEm]). No effect of genetic merit was detected for live weight gain ( = 0...
